What's Standard

Six things that never come as an extra.

A Motohom rental is a staffed, fully managed journey — not a vehicle handed over with a key and a deposit slip.

01

The Crew

A trained driver and a helper travel with every caravan — attentive, discreet, and briefed on your itinerary before you board.

02

The Amenities

Full kitchen, ensuite bathroom, panoramic windows and climate control, in a cabin serviced before every departure.

03

The Safety

GPS-tracked throughout, mechanically inspected before each trip, with 24/7 road support anywhere in the country.

04

The Comfort

Premium bedding, curated interiors and an acoustically quiet cabin — so a night on the road rests you properly.

05

The Planning

Our concierge designs the route, the stops and the permits. You approve the plan; we handle every logistic behind it.

06

The Table

Travel with a personal chef, or keep the kitchen yours. Dietary preferences are arranged before you leave.

How It Works

Four steps, and only one of them is yours.

Dates, a rough direction, who is travelling. No fixed itinerary needed — a single sentence is enough for us to start.

What to Expect

A journey planned in whispers, not spreadsheets.

You share your dates and your rough direction. We handle everything else — routes, permits, refuelling, cabin prep, meals on request, even a photographer if you want one.

The itinerary stays written in pencil. Fall for a place and stay another night; the crew reworks the plan around you while you are still deciding.

Why Caravan
The itinerary stays written in pencil — and that turns out to be the whole luxury.

Questions

Before you enquire.

Everything guests ask us most often, answered without the small print.

No. Every Motohom rental is chauffeured. A trained driver and a helper travel with you for the full journey, and both are experienced on the routes we run. Worth knowing: where self-drive caravans are permitted at all under state policy, the traveller is expected to have prior self-drive experience with a vehicle of that size — which is precisely why we do not offer it.

At a place arranged in advance — a registered caravan park, a resort or plantation property, a licensed campsite, or private land with the owner's permission. Kerala and Maharashtra are the two states with real caravan-park frameworks; elsewhere we rely on resort grounds and private arrangements built up over six years of running these routes.

Not legally, and this is the part most people are surprised by. Overnight halts have to be arranged ahead; spontaneous roadside stopping is not permitted. Parking is specifically prohibited at forts, protected forest premises, dams and inside the flood line of rivers. Your concierge books each halt before you leave, and keeps a fallback for every night in case a gate is locked or a road is shut.

An onboard generator. Mains hook-ups are rare on Indian routes, so the caravan carries its own power, and generator running time is billed by the hour. We quote that rate up front rather than at the end — overnight air conditioning is the single largest variable in a trip's cost, and you should see it before you book, not after.

Six to eight guests depending on the class — eight in the T-Class and M-Class, six in the U-Class. Larger groups travel as a convoy of two or more caravans under a single lead crew. Note that a caravan park is required to keep five metres between vehicles, so a convoy needs a halt that can genuinely take it — another reason halts get booked in advance.

Yes, and they travel free. Tell us at the enquiry stage so the cabin is prepared with protective covers and the route avoids national-park and sanctuary zones where animals are not permitted.

Every caravan is GPS-tracked — a requirement under state caravan policy, and useful to us long before it was mandatory — and mechanically inspected before departure. Third-party insurance covers the vehicle and the driver. If a fault cannot be fixed on the spot, support is dispatched to your location and a replacement caravan is sent.

Three to four weeks is comfortable for most routes. High-season Himalayan journeys, holiday periods and anything involving a convoy should be six to eight weeks out, because each halt has to be confirmed individually and the good ones fill first.

It depends on the class, the number of nights, the route and whether a chef travels with you. Our concierge quotes the whole trip as one figure with inclusions itemised — fuel, tolls, inter-state permits, crew, halts and generator hours — so there is nothing to reconcile at the end.
